Social media networks like Facebook and Twitter are common platforms of communication. Both traditional and non-traditional students are using these social media websites to keep track of friends and family, industry updates, political news, etc., so why not use them in education? Within education there is often a disconnect between our educational platforms and these popular social media sites. This webinar will discuss innovative ways to incorporate social media into the online classroom.
We will discuss how to incorporate social media into discussions, assignments, and content pages within a Canvas course. We will also demonstrate how set up a Facebook course page, integrate a Twitter feed, and incorporate other social media platforms into Canvas.
Learning Objectives:
- Discuss the importance of social media in online learning.
- Review ethical consideration regarding student conduct and engagement expectations.
- Demonstrate how to use Twitter, Facebook, and other social media platform within Canvas.
